Current Issue

Vol. 25 (2025)
Published March 12, 2025

The journal Economía, Sociedad y Territorio is published on a quarterly basis and features scientific papers derived from original research results in social sciences, which enhance the understanding of social phenomena in urban, metropolitan, and regional dimensions. EST prioritize interdisciplinary proposals integrating spatial concepts (i.e. absolute and relative location, distance, spatial relationships, place, proximity, spatiality). Therefore, EST is oriented towards the Spatially Integrated Social Sciences (SISS). That is to say: it recognizes the key role space (and time) plays in society and its importance to better understand multiple social processes.

Consequently, EST is aimed at researchers, professors, and students of all the areas in social sciences that understand: i. Space and time as strategic elements to provide better insight into multiple social processes: and, ii. The advantages of researching social sciences with an interdisciplinary approach, applying quantitative and spatial methods (i.e. spatial statistics and econometrics) and using cutting-edge technology (i.e. Geographic Information Systems, and ad hoc informatic applications. Therefore, EST scientific field combines diverse areas of the exact sciences (i.e. informatics) and of health (i.e. public health, epidemiology).

EST focuses mainly on Iberoamerican countries and scientific communities. However, its geographic scope is global because it is an open access journal and its content can be freely reproduced, provided the authors and Journal are given credit.

All articles are reviewed by anonymous, national or international expert peers on the topic of the article and outside the author’s institution. Applications in Spanish, English, or Portuguese are considered. There is not a charge for authors in any of the stages of the application, evaluation and publishing processes. Publishing format is distributed in digital versions (PDF and soon, XML), as well as in print version. Guidelines for authors can be accessed through EST website: <http://est.cmq.edu.mx/index.php/est>.
