Abstract
The last years of the XX century have witnessed the birth of concerns about the meaning of producing and transmitting knowledge. On the one side, the massive nature of education would propitiate their abandonment, while it has been stressed in the postulate that research shall be gradually oriented to support the effort of “development” and economic and social “progress”.
Hence, there has been harsh criticism to the patterns of massive education, which come from the Fordist phase, and in some cases, populist, as it is the case of Mexico; this is to say, postwar capitalist development. Such criticism shows the need to return to “quality” education, taught to those who can really take advantage of it, in the framework of a process of transmission of knowledge, which is required to be efficient, updated and increasingly articulated with the changes that appear in the productive sphere.

El libro de Benjamin en francés retoma el tomo V de Gesammelte Schriften (obras completas) editadas/compiladas por Rolf Tiedemann, en la casa Suhrkamp Verlag, Frankfurt am Main, bajo el título de Das Passagen-Werk (tomo V) y publicado en 1982. La traducción al francés es de Jean Lacoste y fue publicada por Le Cerf en 1989 en 974 pp. Las anotaciones críticas hechas por Tiedemann a la edición mencionada en alemán, no fueron integradas a la traducción francesa. Las notas críticas son las explicaciones al texto de Benjamin que da Tiedemann como editor y que la versión francesa de Le Cerf no retoma, porque representa todo un trabajo extra del editor alemán que en esa ocasión no se consideró necesario.
