Abstract
One of the goals of 2013’s Energy Reform in Mexico (RE-2013) was to reduce electricity spending in Mexican households. In order to analyze electricity spending after RE-2013, four DiD models were applied with three intensity variation criteria: socioeconomic stratum, 99th percentile, and energy intensity, with data from ENIGH covering the 2012-2018 period. The results suggest that electricity expenditure increased in the treated groups. In addition to this, the most influential variables were income and price. Finally, elasticities varied depending on both socioeconomic stratum and region.
