Abstract
In this work I put forward that the modalities experienced by urbanization in our country in the last 50 years are associated —to different extents— with the vicissitudes of the Mexican economy.
The review of the changes in the economy and urbanization seems to indicate that in the period 1970-1990 the decentralization of population was originated by the oil boom and continued with the 1980’s crisis.
