Abstract
In the article we reflect on the need to incorporate the various dimensions of water resources into the environmental policy, including the actual production cost as well as the environmental one, understood as the wear of the environment, its deterioration or partial destruction at different times and in relation to other natural resources.
Some indicators on the availability of water and its global consumption are presented, and also some projections that warn on its future scarcity, proposing some political interventions to afford the actual cost of water and their reinforcement with environmental educations program to optimize the use of water, especially in developing countries.
